Winners of the Australian Game Developer Awards 2022: Praise the Lamb

Last night was the Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDA), an evening of celebration hosted by the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association.

The night saw a slew of amazing games and studios honored in different categories, with each nomination well-deserved. We have so much talent in this industry, it’s beautiful to see.

The ceremony featured 13 different categories, plus four cultural awards, all judged by 70 gaming industry professionals. In a press release from the event, IGEA CEO Ron Curry said:

“With such a caliber of nominated, shortlisted and crowned games, we expect further global success for many of our Australian creators. Australia has a strong and well-deserved reputation around the world for developing innovative, unique and fun for all types of players.

Now, on to the rewards. In terms of who won the most, Massive Monster’s Worship of the Lamb walked away with four of 13 awards, including Game of the Year. Considering it’s one of my favorite releases this year, there’s no surprise here.

They also walked away with the Excellence in Music award, which was a joy to see since the River Boy soundtrack for Worship of the Lamb was truly out of this world. Congratulations !

The AGDA also saw big wins for Victoria’s game developer community, as 10 of the 13 awards went to Victoria-based studios.

Considering that the Victorian games industry has the strongest support from their state government thanks to advice from VicScreen, this is no surprise and should be a sign for other state governments to do better. , in my opinion !

Here is the full list of winners and nominees for each award, which sees bangers like Lost and Dog, Wylde Flowers, Kinder World and Queer Man Peering In A Rock Pool.jpg winning awards at home.
