Students at Tidioute Community Charter School have taken their game to another level.

The Game Design class ventured to the University of Pittsburgh’s Bradford campus to meet with Jeremy Callinan, Assistant Professor of Computing Information Systems and Technology (CIST).

“Prof Callinan explained to students how to get into game design, what college courses were like, what careers were available, and then showed TCCS students many different VR headsets.” said teacher Megan Minich. “Each student had the opportunity to try out each helmet for themselves.”

The field trip class members were seniors Denny Valentine and Aleya Proctor, juniors Trevor Haehn and Arreanna Anderson, and sophomores Zoey Birchard and Sierra Studley.

“It was an amazing experience,” says Valentine. “We were shown different ways to stand out in the IT field. We were also able to use and experiment with the Unity engine. I also really enjoyed visiting the campus.

The students visited the UPB and had a meal in the refectory.

Minich graduated from Pitt-Bradford and continues a close relationship with the school and the CIST program.

“Thank you, Megan Minich and the TCCS students for visiting us in Pitt-Bradford”, Callinan said. “We enjoyed sharing our enthusiasm for technology, and the CIST program likes to spread the word about technology-related career opportunities. They are an excellent group of students and we hope to see them again.
