Frontier Foundry, the gaming label Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV, ‘Frontier’), today released turn-based tactical RPG Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters in partnership with the creator of Warhammer 40,000 Games Workshop.

Developed by Complex Games, players control the elite Space Marines chapter known as the Gray Knights as they purge a Nurgle-induced galactic plague known as Bloom. The game is available for purchase now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Storewith a suggested retail price of £34.99/$44.99/$44.99 for the standard version and £44.99/$54.99/$54.99 for the Castellan Champion edition.

In Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, players command the Gray Knights in cinematic and aggressive ground combat missions, using firepower, melee weapons, psychic abilities and the environment itself to crush enemies. colored forces of Nurgle. Between battles, in the game’s rich strategy layer, they’ll manage the larger conflict against the Bloom aboard the attack cruiser Baleful Edict, choosing where to take the fight next and finding new ways to defeat the forces of the Chaos.

The Castellan Champion Edition of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters unlocks access to the exclusive gray knights character Castellan Garran Crowe, keeper of the mighty Dark Blade of Antwyr, which he carries in the game. In this edition, Crowe will join the player’s campaign midway through the story and can then be selected from the Barracks for future combat missions, arriving with a full suite of abilities to use in battle. This edition also comes with the original soundtrack of the game by the composer Doyle W. Donehoofeaturing a remaster of the famous Ultramarine Chant from 1998’s Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate. Owners of the base game can optionally upgrade to this edition to £12.99/$14.99/$14.99.

The objective of the Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters campaign is to eliminate the five Bloom Reapers to stop this cosmic plague, leading to a final conflict with the iconic Death Lord Mortarion, Demon Primarch of Nurgle. Failure will leave the entire galaxy succumbing to Bloom. Players have many tools at their disposal to fend off Nurgle – including Exterminatus, an ultimate weapon upgrade for the Baleful Edict that purges all life from a given planet in spectacular fashion with the press of a single button.

With a screenplay written by Black bookcase Legend Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters strives for authenticity in every detail, delving deep into the history of the Gray Knights to bring that story to life. Additionally, the actor Andy Serkis (The Batman, Planet of the Apes Trilogy, Black Panther) headlines the game’s cast, taking on the role of Grand Master Vardan Kai, which controls the player’s access to the Armory and regularly checks their progress against the Bloom. The zealous inquisitor Kartha Vakir, meanwhile, is voiced by Robyn Addison (Final Fantasy XIV: A Kingdom Reborn, Dragon Age: Inquisition).
